Rudi visiting the Lions

By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment

If you drafted Kevin Smith with any kind of a decent pick, this sucks. According to Adam Schefter of NFLN, Rudi Johnson is visiting the Lions.
Johnson will come cheap, but should bother Kevin Smith’s carries too much. Still, it doesn’t make me feel any better.

Vernon Gholston stinks

By Micah Warren | 1 Comment

People come up to me on the street and ask me all the time, “Micah, who do you think will be the biggest bust this year in football?” So I’ll address that here.
My pick: Vernon Gholston. He was the 6th-overall pick in April and so far is stinking up the joint. [...]

A source has told Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe that the Patriots have waived former 2nd-round pick Chad Jackson. The star from U. of Florida never really caught on with the team, losing his #3 spot to Jabar Gaffney in the preseason.

Said Anderson, “I pretty much [...]

Poor Jimmy Smith

Former Jaguar great Jimmy Smith is at it again. We think he has a problem. He was arrested early this morning and charged with DUI in Deval County, FL. They also found weed in his possession.
Smith was suspended four games in 2003 for violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Two years ago, Smith [...]

Rudi getting cut?

By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment

A league source has told PFT that the Bengals were trying to trady Rudi Johnson, but plan to cut him today instead. Apparently, they couldn’t get anything for him. No kidding?
But, this doesn’t mean you should take him off of your board for your fantasy draft this weekend. If he’s there really [...]

Ricky is the starter

The Dolphins depth chart was released recently and it names Ricky Williams as the starting running back over Ronnie Brown. But buyer beware, fantasy leaguers. You can rest assured that Brown will get his carries and they will rotate during the season.

Beckett to visit Dr. James Andrews

The hilarious part is that Terry Francona is calling the visit precautionary. Anyone that knows anything about sports injuries knows that it’s never good when you hear “Dr. James Andrews.”
Josh Beckett is visiting Andrews to check out his ailing right elbow.
“I think the best word I can use is we’re just [...]

Fourth-year linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys Kevin Burnett writes for a blog on the Dallas Cowboys’ website.  Kevin attended Tennessee University, but obviously not for educational purposes.  Read his blog articles and you will understand what I mean.
Anyway, Burnett wrote about how he has a hunch that something is in the works between the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona [...]

Not shocking. ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that Commissioner Goodell has informed the Cowboys that Pacman Jones will be reinstated for Week 1.
We already knew this. When they said he could practice with the team, it was only a matter of him not getting into any trouble before he’d be back for the [...]

Martellus Bennett might not last long

Cowboys rookie TE Martellus Bennett sounds to us like he’s a big baby who lacks motivation. After being selected in the 2nd round this year, he’s been seen on HBO’s Hard Knocks getting talking-to’s from a variety of coaches.
Now, he is crying that Jason Witten doesn’t like him. Bennett said this is what [...]

Harvey signs

Derrick Harvey, the 8th overall pick in the NFL and the last remaining rookie holdout, has finally agreed to a deal with the Jaguars (says John Clayton).
The Jags traded way up to get Harvey at the #8 slot. Too far in OTR’s opinion. That probably had something to do with their [...]

MLB institutes instant replay

Starting on Thursday, if a team is starting a new series, instant replay will be used for home run balls.
That’s basically it for that. Read more about it here.
I had a better solution to determine home runs without using instant replay, but Bud Selig didn’t want any part of it. I suggested bigger [...]

Kiwanuka back to the d-line

By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment

The inevitable has happened. The Giants have moved Mathias Kiwanuka from linebacker back to his natural position of defensive end.
The Giants are continuing talks with Michael Strahan about un-retiring, but regardless, this move makes sens. We never thought he was all that great/comfortable at strong side linebacker. He’s been a [...]

DeSean won’t start

Eagles rookie WR DeSean Jackson, who has been phenomenal so far this preseason, will not start in the absence of Kevin Curtis according to offensive coordinator Marty Mornhingweg.
The reason is that Jackson is best suited to play the flanker, or “Z,” position in the offense. The flanker is typically off the line of scrimmage [...]

Things you shouldn’t say

Wagner out three more weeks

By Micah Warren | Leave a Comment

While the Mets have refused to put a timetable on Billy Wagner’s return, the initial assessment is that he’ll be out another three weeks. Supposedly, his elbow is getting worse and the only prescription is more cowbell.
The Mets need him badly. The shaky bullpen was problematic even with Wagner. It’s [...]

Do not, under any circumstances, listen to a word ESPN’s Matt Berry has to say. I’m not joking. I watched this guy last year on ESPN’s pregame Countdown show or whatever and couldn’t believe what he was saying.
First of all, never trust a guy that pronounces a hard “g” in “Edgerrin.” The [...]
