Bears return man/WR experiment Devin Hester was a no-show for the first day of Bears camp today. Hester has two years left on his four-year $2.86 million rookie deal.
Supposedly, he is looking for a six-year $45 million deal. But, we understand the Bears position on this. How do you value a returner at his level? He’s scheduled to start training camp as a starting WR, and in theory holding out would hurt his chances to do that. But, it’s the Bears and their WR’s suck a fat one.
Hester is extremely valuable to the Bears, but there really is no precedent for a contract for a guy like this.
