chrishenry.jpegThe offense has been named to Profootballtalk’s All-Turd team for 2008. It’s right here.

Surprise, surprise that Chris Henry and Brandon Marshall are on the list.

Perry: I don’t think this is warranted or fair, but Philip Rivers is on this ‘All-turd team.’ Florio explains, “Acts like a spoiled brat more often than not. (Hey, until quarterbacks start getting arrested, it doesn’t take much to make the list at this position.)”

What are your thoughts on this selection?

I hate Philip Rivers. He is the cockiest player in the league and he isn’t even that great. He just has a really good team which is why he wins.

I thought the same thing until he beat the Colts last year in the playoffs. He threw some darts. Granted he will have to have more games like that, so maybe the jury is still out on him?

I have to disagree with Matt on this one. Philip Rivers is one of the rising-star quarterbacks in the NFL. He is extremely accurate and as tough as they come. Cockiness (or should we rephrase that as self-confidence) is justified when someone has the skills to beat the Colts in the playoffs in stunning fashion (264 yards, 74% passing, 3 tds before tearing his ACL), then came within inches of beating the undefeated Patriots with a COMPLETELY TORN ACL AND A SPRAINED MCL.

Nothing annoys me more than players that are unjustifiably cocky… but that is definitely not the case with Rivers. You need to to recalibrate your definition of “great”, if you can’t respect what he did in the playoffs last year.

Hey Matt, Ben sounds like he went to NC State. Only people that went to NC State defend him. Others just view him as a cocky a-hole. “Turd-list,” not so much, but cocky a-hole very much so.

    Micah’s thoughts?

What Rivers did to Jay Cutler last year was absolutely horrible. I remember I wanted to pee in Philip’s face when he was talking all that crap. What goes around comes around, and Cutler will get his day of revenge.

You should post the youtube video for that. I honestly forget what it was all about. I’m sure Cutler instigated it? That’s the way I want to remember it. I picture my Philip Rivers with a halo over his head and acting cocky only when provoked.

Rivers came of age last year and is a very good QB. He needs to knock off the screaming and the yelling at fans.

Rivers should not be on any “Turd List”. First, he’s damned good, and only going to get better. Second, he will never, and the Great One means EVER show up on a police blotter. Aren’t both, or at least one of those two, required to make a “Turd List”?

The thing with Cutler was disappointing, but Cutler wasn’t innocent himself. We’ve been through this, and I’m not trying to rehash it. I’m not going to defend Rivers or assault Cutler. It’s old news, let us all move on? Remember Favre?

Philip does need to tone his talking down, but I don’t see him doing it. You can look for my official thoughts on this later on http://www.thesportsidiot.com?

Got something to say?
