The Phils beat the Red Sox 8-2 Monday night (although we expect they still lose the series with Jamie Moyer and Kyle Kendrick the next two starters) and put on a display of what they can do offensively. And that’s without Chase Utley contributing.
The good news for the Phils? Ryan Howard looks like he is right again. Sure, he’s on pace for 217 strikeouts and there are some experts think that that’s too many, but Howard looks to be back on the right track as he bombed two opposite-field HR’s and a triple to go with four RBI’s.
Why do I note that the HR’s were opposite field? Because, to people that know Howard well (not, “know him well” as in, if he winks at you it means that he just busted ass and the room is going to be toxic in less than 30 seconds. But, know him as in watch him play baseball), when he is driving the ball to opposite field, it means he is seeing the ball and is comfortable at the plate.
NL, look out.
