travishenry.jpgThe Denver Broncos have cut RB Travis Henry. This is surprising for a guy that just signed a five-year $22.5 million deal in March 2007.

“We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team,” coach Mike Shanahan said in a written statement.

“Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL, we have to make decisions that are in the best interests of our organization and its goal of winning a Super Bowl,” Shanahan said.

I don’t get this guy… everyone says Travis Henry is good, yet now this guy is looking to move on to his fourth team. The man has only appeared in all 16 games in a season once, and rushed for over 1,000 yards three times.

Dan, I think I have to agree. He had fumble problems early on, but he’s rushed for 1,400 in a season before. He isn’t ancient, and while he isn’t a choir boy, he isn’t a trainwreck. Unless you consider having nine kids with nine different broads a trainwreck.

I think Denver has become too complacent in thinking anyone can run in that system. It’s kinda true, but you need some kind of consistency, and the 46 RB’s since Davis retired doesn’t equal consistency.

Who is the featured back now? What’s your thoughts on him, Micah? Whoever it is, I’m sure he costs a lot less than Henry.

Selvin Young is the projected starter. He had 729 yards on 140 attempts and was good. They also have Andre Hall, who did a decent job in limited time. The Broncos signed Michael Pittman from the Bucs as well. They took Ryan Torain in the fifth-round this year, so who knows with him? They’ll be fine.

Got something to say?
