Former Philadelphia Eagle Jevon Kearse is happy to be back in Tennessee and continues to mention the fact that Jim Johnson’s scheme in Philly didn’t fit him.
“I’m still the same player, but that scheme up in Philly was different,” whines Kearse. “All I’ve got to say is proof is in the pudding, so I can’t even talk about it. Just watch and see.”
Uh huh. We’ll be watching. And seeing. Kearse was a defensive end in a scheme that emphasizes pressure on the quarterback. He’s a pass-rush specialist. What’s the problem? What scheme? What the hell are you talking about? Maybe the fact that you were partying on a boat instead of working out last year?
“He’s never had an offseason before other than his rookie year here. He’s never done all this,” Titans defensive line coach Washburn said. “He sure seems to be different than he was the first go-around.”
Ummm….why not? Why wasn’t he working hard in previous offseasons? Would that have had more of an effect on his play than the “scheme?”
