etimes.jpgBefore you say anything, whiskey drinking is a sport. I like to say whiskeys. I like the plural version best. I do love all whiskeys, but one stands out as my favorite. Which one you ask? The official whiskey of the Kentucky Derby, Early Times Whiskey. Oh man, it’s so good.

It’s also the official whiskeys of the Philadelphia Eagles tailgate located in-between the C2 and C1 light poles in the Wachovia Center. You will hear more about this tailgate as the football season gets closer. Doug Ford will also become a household name. Don’t mess with Doug.

Early Times was first distilled in 1860. It’s a true bourbon and aged in used, old, charred oak barrels. Such a smooth taste. Tastes like heaven assuming heaven has a taste. Whenever you’re around a bottle of Early Times and someone yells “Cannonball,” “whiskeys,” or if they point, touch or pick up the bottle, everyone must get in a circle. The bottle is then passed to everyone in the circle and each person must take a swig from the bottle. CANNONBALL! Whiskeys…..so good.

Please stay tuned for more tailgating chat and events. At the end of April we will be having a draft tailgate party with everyone being united from C2/C1. If you aren’t attending, you can check in with all the draft picks and fun on our live blog. CANNONBALL!!!!!!!! Special shout outs to Kyle, Tim, and Avie.

Early Times is the whiskey used in the official Kentucky Derby Mint Julep. However, it is not necessarily the official bourbon whiskey. I believe that changes from year to year based on sponsorship. I know Makers Mark and Woodford Reserve have been in the past. Not sure what will be for the 2008. All fine whiskeys though, no argument there! :)

Mmmm….that’s good booze! Whiskey’s are great! It’s nice to see that someone has finally put whiskey’s and sports together. They are like two peas in a pod. Perry seems like a guy I’d like to hang with at a cabin for a weekend….maybe play some cards, do some fishing…drink some whiskey’s!!

Its almost leap day. Leap day is the day that every American deserves to drink, get drunk, blackout, and not apologize. I mean, it’s not like you missed out. You know what else is American? Whiskeys. Whiskeys is American. And if you are not drinking Whiskeys, you are not American. You know what isn’t American? Terrorist and Giants fans.

Got something to say?
