It seems the Cardinals are going to enter free agency an absolute mess. Reports from Arizona indicate that the Cardinals and Larry Fitzgerald are not at all close in restructuring Fitzgerald’s contract. Eugene Parker, Fitzgerald’s agent, is looking to get his client a four year contract, but the Cardinals want him to sign a six year deal.

The Cardinals have stated that they will keep Fitzgerald no matter what happens. If nothing is done this means they won’t be able to seek free agents to fill the gaps they currently need. Furthermore, they will most likely lose outside linebacker, Calvin Pace, and current players might have to take pay cuts or be released.
How this ridiculous contract happened is beyond belief. Fitzgerald is scheduled to make 14.6 million this year and 17 million next year. A wide receiver is not worth this kind of money, no matter what your name is.
The Cardinals are left with four options. The first is to restructure Fitzgerald’s contract, so they will be able to sign free agents they need. The second is to ride out his contract and decide what to next year. The third is to cut him and take the cap hit. The final option would be to trade him; however, the team he is traded to must be able to restructure his contract.
General manager Rod Graves has put this Cardinals organization in a horrible position. In all honesty, isn’t this expected from this pathetic organization? In my opinion, they need to trade him. We all watched the Super Bowl and found out that defense wins championships. You don’t build a team around a wide receiver. Besides, they already have Anquan Boldin. Whatever this organization does, I expect them to make the wrong decision; so don’t be surprised if absolutely nothing is done to fix this problem.
