“The First 48: NFL Edition”

willieandrews.jpgI don’t think that’s far fetched to expect that show to air soon. With all the arrests of NFL players, why not combine the harsh realities of law enforcement with all the stars of professional football? I’m pitching this to A&E soon.

So, Willie Andrews, the Patriots backup who only got mentioned around Super Bowl time because he got arrested for possession of marijuana, seems to be in more trouble than was first thought. He was caught with a half-pound of grass, which was broken up into three smaller bags. He also had $6,800 in cash on him. And did I mention that he didn’t have any pipes, papers or blunts with which to smoke it? What the hell are you doing, Willie?

While 1/2 pound isn’t Nate Newton-type trouble, it’s still stupid. While he’s not rolling in NFL cash the way many stars are, he gets paid enough. Enough that he doesn’t need to sell weed - and risk his NFL life, which he now has - to make ends meet.

Here is a lesson, Willie: When you are Randy Moss, you can run over traffic cops and still have a job. Hell, even Pacman Jones might still find work. But you, Willie…you, are Willie Andrews. Willie Andrews formerly of the National Football League.
